I’ve always had a love for photography.
Some of my earliest memories are of sitting with grandparents and loved ones, looking through old family albums and listening to the stories behind the photographs. There was something magical about those images — each one capturing a fleeting moment in time and preserving a story that could be passed down through generations.
That feeling has stayed with me ever since.
My professional background has predominantly been in the world of television and film. I was incredibly fortunate early in my career to work for the late director and producer Tony Scott, best known for films such as Top Gun.
From there, I’ve had the privilege of working with some fantastic broadcasters and networks, including TCM, Cartoon Network, Channel 5, National Geographic, FOX and Disney.
Over the years, I’ve read scripts, reviewed, edited and prepared an enormous variety of content for broadcast — from Bluey and Big Brother to The Walking Dead. I was even fortunate enough to work on the Oscar-winning documentary Free Solo for its UK broadcast.
Working in television and film taught me something that has become incredibly valuable in my photography: the power of a single frame to tell a story.
I grew up with a camera never too far away, but it was in early 2005 that I finally invested in my first professional camera.
From that moment, I was hooked.
I photographed absolutely everything I could. Before long, photography had become far more than simply taking pictures — I had fallen completely in love with the craft behind creating an image.
I became fascinated by light and shadow, composition, perspective and posing. I discovered how something as seemingly insignificant as moving a person by just a millimetre can transform a good pose into a great one.
For me, photography is both an art and a science. I love understanding why something works. The Exposure Triangle, Rule of Thirds, Inverse Square Law and all the technical elements might sound complicated, but together they form the foundations that allow me to create beautiful, intentional images.
And I’m still learning.
Becoming a professional photographer also meant becoming part of professional photography organisations that share my commitment to quality and professionalism.
I’m proud to be a member of the SWPP — Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers — as well as The Guild of Professional Photographers.
Being part of these organisations continually encourages me to maintain high standards, both in the work I create and in the way I look after my clients.
There are probably far too many reasons to fit onto one page! But perhaps the most important is this:
When you choose me as your photographer, you’re not simply hiring someone to turn up with a camera and take photographs. You’re inviting someone into some of the most important moments of your life.
Whether I’m photographing a family, welcoming a newborn into the studio, capturing a milestone or documenting a wedding day, I want the experience to be every bit as memorable as the photographs themselves.
I want you to feel comfortable, relaxed and able to enjoy the moment — because the best photographs often happen when you forget the camera is even there.
And hopefully, somewhere along the way, I’ll become more than just your photographer. I’ll become someone you trust, someone you’re comfortable with and, quite possibly, a friend.
The little moments become distant memories. Children grow. Families change. Loved ones grow older. Wedding days become anniversaries.
That’s why I believe photography matters.
It gives us something tangible to hold onto — a moment that would otherwise have disappeared into the past.
My goal is to create photographs that don’t simply look beautiful today, but become treasured memories and family heirlooms for generations to come.
And if I can do that while making the experience relaxed, enjoyable and genuinely fun, then I’ve done what I set out to do.
James is friendly, professional and very good at keeping an excitable mother of the bride calm. He also helped with his fantastic sewing skills when a bridesmaids dress needed fixing! His photographs are beautiful and really captured our day in the most amazing way
James made us feel at ease, even my husband who hates having his photo taken .They were all natural and lovely. My son wasn’t in the best mood on the day, but James made him laugh and caught his smiles at just the right moments. The photos are wonderful, something I’m so glad I did.

An absolute fab photographer: James did our wedding and he is AMAZING at what he does! James is very organised and creative, and pre-plans photo shoots which is so handy on the day. We didn’t need to think about guest being in the pictures as he did all that for us. I have some wonderful pictures which I have framed.
I’ve had a number of fantastic experiences with James, and he has been brilliant each time. They say you should never work with children or animals and James exceeds at both. He has a wonderful ability to put everyone at ease. I would highly recommend him for any form of work, personal or commercial.
