Turning one is a pretty big milestone — and what better way to celebrate it than with cake, smiles, bubbles and a little bit of mess?
A Cake Smash & Splash Experience is a fun and memorable way to capture your little one’s first birthday and all the personality they’ve developed over their first year.
And yes, there will probably be a little mess.
But that’s all part of the fun.
Your experience is divided into three short sections, each lasting around 15–20 minutes, although we’ll always work at your little one’s pace.
– FIRST — THE PORTRAITS –
We start with some lovely clean and tidy portraits, capturing those gorgeous smiles and expressions before the cake makes an appearance.
– THE CAKE –
Next comes the main event.
The cake is presented and your little one can explore, play, squish, taste and make as much mess as they like.
Some babies dive straight in. Others take a little convincing. Either way, we’ll capture all those wonderful reactions.
– FINALLY – THE SPLASH –
Once the cake has done its job, it’s time for a lovely warm bath, bubbles and a few splashes to finish the experience.
The three shorter sections also give us plenty of opportunities for cuddles, little breaks and outfit changes whenever they’re needed.
Your Cake Smash & Splash Experience can take place in my new studio in Bromley, opening soon, or in the comfort of your own home.
For a home experience, I’ll bring a small portable setup along with everything I need to create your photographs — and don’t worry about the mess. I’ll keep it to a minimum and clean everything away as part of the service.
Before your experience, we’ll also talk through the styling, colours and any little details you’d like to include, so we can create something that feels personal and unique to you.
For food hygiene, intolerance and allergy reasons, cake isn’t included as part of the experience.
Don’t worry though — I can recommend a couple of local retailers who provide beautiful cakes that are perfect for a Cake Smash and have been used by my clients before.
If you’d prefer to avoid cake altogether, that’s absolutely fine too. A fruit alternative can be just as much fun.

James is friendly, professional and very good at keeping an excitable mother of the bride calm. He also helped with his fantastic sewing skills when a bridesmaids dress needed fixing! His photographs are beautiful and really captured our day in the most amazing way
